Just imagine when a big family like the Papaya clan gather together for a picnic or so, what could be the result? Well, it will always be a fun-filled party!

We are the Papaya girls. Out of the 10 siblings of Tatay and Mama, 4 are boys and 6 are girls. The five girls are here, the one who is not on the picture is Maria Fe who is currently working in Japan. The one in yellow is Manang (Oneechan) Marianita, next to her is yours truly, Mama is at the center with Delia at her back and Ate Baby. The one posing in fron is Liza, the youngest!

The Yellow Hibiscus (Gumamela)

Gumamelas abound the City, however, rarely could you find Gumamelas with giant flowers. When I went to the public market last week, I saw a flower vendor selling a similar kind of gumamela. Out of curiosity, I asked her how much, she said P350 since this is an imported variety. Wow! Anyway, most of the potted Gumamelas are sold at P50/pot...

The Yellow Lantana...

The leaves of the Lantana's are the favorite food of the butterflies. I simply love to see butterflies troop inside our garden and partake of their meal... That's the main reason why I planted Lantana's at home. Well, let us not discount the fact that Lantanas have beautiful flowers!

There are many kinds of Lantana, the white ones, the yellow lantana, yellow-orange, yellow-pink, etc... I will update you whenever I will find a different kind of Lantana.

The yellow bells was planted in my garden around three years ago. Since the design of my fence is very open to the view of the passersby and the neighbors, the yellow bells seems to love the attention of people as it continues to show its flowers outside...

The Bridal Shower is as white as snow!
The Alamanda looks very towering infront of my garden.

She does not fail to give me flowers every day.

It is quite difficult to grow the Alamanda. You need to wait for it to give you its seedling all by itself. Manang Inday tried to plant the stem yet to no avail. Anyone of you who knows how to plant this flower...please teach me so I will be able to give my friends a seedling of this beautiful product of nature!

The Orange Euphorbias are beautifully planted outside the fence.

Euphorbias are very easy to grow, contrary to Alamanda. You just cut its stem, plant it in a sunny area then after a week you can see it steadily growing. Euphorbias bloom only if you plant it somewhere where the sunlight can reach it.

The Yellow Euphorbia!

I planted the yellow Euphorbia at the center of the orange euphorbias. To my surprise, some petals of the supposedly yellow Euphorbia turned into orange... it mutated and adapted the color of its surrounding! Im happy, after how many weeks... the orange petals returned to its natural yellow color!

And the Pink-Orange Lantanas!

The Lantanas can be beautiful or ugly, depending upon the area where it is planted and the way it is being taken cared of by its owner. The pink-orange Lantana is the most common among its many varieties. But in my garden, the pink-orange is so attractive that many morning joggers stop in my house to see the Lantana in its curtain-like shape. Indeed, beauty is in the eye of the beholder yet it also depends upon how the beauty carry itself. To others, the pink-orange lantana may be common and ugly, but as for me, its pretty!

At the Paradise Beach

Before Otosan went back to Japan, we went to Paradise beach to be able to release our tensions and stress after the whole week of back to back hectic schedule during the RP-Japan Festival and Conference. Seiji and Megumi, who love the beach enjoyed the most.
Otosan also enjoyed playing with Seiji and Megumi.
Megumi and Seiji in their most treasured photo ops. Mayor Duterte also arrived together with many of his bodyguards who came in full gear and ammunitions. Otosan had a brief chika chika with him.

Bon Odori!

We had our Bon Odori (Dance Festival to remember the dead loved ones) last August 30 at the PNJK International School gym. There were so many participants during the festive gathering. Almost all of us were in Yukata. Every year, Megumi also takes part in the most awaited activity. The Bon Odori usually culminates our week-long activities at school. Jane Marie, a first year college student of MKD took part for the first time in the most memorable affair. She enjoyed the festivity! Merce was also present taking pictures everywhere!

During the Bon Odori, almost all ofthe participants were wearing Yukata or Happi. The atmosphere was very festive, there were lots of food and many people came to participate! Otosan was also in a happy mood, seated beside him was Rev. Fernandez and Judge Escovilla! Kudos to all!

This was during the Kick-Off Presentations of the Festival. From right: Dr. Vitto, Juseven Austero, Madam Junko Mitsuya, Consul Hiroshi Mitsuya (the new Japanese Consul), Judge Escovilla, Uchida Otosan, Rev. Fernandez and me! We were wearing our Festival t-shirt!

The Noh Play by the UP Diliman students Center for International Studies headed by the Noh Master Umewaka. The Performance was made possible by the Japan Foundation.

Mr. Kazunobu Teramoto was also present during the Festival. Meg is so pretty with her Festival t-shirt.

The boys are carrying the Omikoshi...a sacred altar that came all the way from Japan. It was donated by Uchida Otosan. A 24 Gold Karat altar that costs around P700,000!

This is the entry of the college department in the cultural exhibit contest. The girl at th center is their Geisha. They won the 2nd prize. The participants are the employees from the elementary department (1st prize winner) high school (3rd) and the college.

All the active organizations in the school get to showcase their talents during the festival. The Boy Scouts cannot be left out. They had their well-choreogrphed fancy drill.

The teaser dance of the Pinoy Dance Artists. They will have their own cultural show on October 2006. The audience can watch their perfect movements upon paying a minimal entrance fee.

The Resting Place of Ayako San

I was so happy being able to visit the grave of Ayako Okasan last August 27 at the Hachioji City. The engraved writings means "sincere heart". We brought Liliums, clean the grave, poured water all over and bathe the statue in honor of Ayako San. The statue has with her three kids ( Yusuke San, Takayoshi San and Masaaki San) her three beloved grandsons whom she deeply loved. The size of her grave is larger than the ordinary Japanese grave and it has also a rest area adjacent to it. The grave is overlooking Mt. Fuji, a favorite spot of Ayako San.

It was Otosan who thought of bringing me to Ayako San's resting place. Im totally grateful for the opportunity to visit and thank Ayako San for everything that she and Otosan has done for me.

Our trip to the grave of Ayako San was a delight with the presence of her 3 grandsons, Yusuke San, Takayoshi San and Masaaki San. It was Takayoshi who steered the wheel while Yusuke played English songs sang by a Japanese singer... I think one of the songs played was a revival of the song Crazy for you! The tallest of them is Takayoshi and the youngest is Masaaki.

My Davao's Kuya Shuji San who is extremely kind has a Kuya, Katsumi Oniisan who is also very kind. He brought his wife, Mrs. Mayumi Honda, a very fine lady who is very smiling and very finesse. They met me at the South exit of Shinjuku and we ate dinner in a steak house inside the Lumine building of Shinjuku Station. There were so many people inside the restaurant. The food was so great! The salad was extremely Oishii! The tomato was so sweet! I also had a glass of red wine. Gochisou sama deshita!

I met Shoko Obasan & Matsuo San in Tokyo

She is Shoko Ogawa Obasan. She has been my Japanese Obasan since I was 18...at the time I went to Tokyo to study Nihongo atTama Educational Center. Shoko Obasan was then a member of JPVA. She used to visit our place and brought us to her residence at Yokohama. We also played bowling together with her sons. Oww, natsukashii omoide deshita! That was 15 years ago...

Matsuo San and Shoko Obasan, both members of Philippine Nikkei Jin Legal Support Center (PNLSC), brought me to the Tochou of Shinjuku at the top floor 67th floor I guess and we had our dinner at a very expensive Japanese Restaurant. It was a fine dining with the server dressed in beautiful Kimono. I guess the pay per person was Y10,000. I was so lucky I had a respite from the rigors of my workshop in Japan.

Seen in this photo are my fellow participants in the K-Grade 12 Workshop on the Guided Reading Materials and Curriculum Design for Multingual Education. Beside me (2nd from the left is Ms. Alice Itchon, a Filipino taking up masteral in Japanese language at the Obirin University in Tokyo, our host institution. The two ladies are Ms. Sakurai and (sorry I forgot the name of the other Japanese) they came from other parts of Japan.

This picture was taken at the Kenmei Gakuen at the Hachioji City. The school is an International School. Beside me is Huay Ling, a Doctor from Taiwan, Sasaki Sensei, Graduate School Professor of Obirin University and Ali Zubaida (to whom I consider as my closest friend there) she came from Malaysia. Kenmei Gakuen is a very rich school. Surrounded with greenery and with a historical Japanese home which was built many centuries ago.

When I was at Shinjuku, Yusuke and her girlfriend Atsuko gave me a dinner treat at a sumptuous Japanese restaurant near the Shinjuku Washington Hotel where I stayed. The food was very delicious, neatly served and with garnishings on it. Our dessert was Mango Jelly! I was told by Yusuke that Mango is the latest fruit craze in Japan. They make anything out of Mango and they are very expensive! They also served us punch made of wine and mango! Truly amazing, right? Gochisou Sama deshita!

She is Atsuko, a very fine, petite, simple yet beautiful lady. I had so much fun talking to her.

Believe it or not, but the rooftop was a park with flowing water.... it was so scary to step on it because of the feeling that the glass might break into pieces and you will fall. Note...it was a four-storey building, we even rode in an elevator in going up!

The Nagoya Castle was celebrating its Summer Festival at the time of our visit, last August 19, 2006, we were able to witness the Nagoya Odori in side the Castle's compound. There were lots of food that were sold inside, and drinks too! Liza and I got to drink Kirin beer! In this picture you can also see the cutey Howell and Mom..Liza!

Strolling at Nagoya together with my brood and beloved Winston was chaotic and very unforgettable. We went to the tower top and it was quite terrifying inside the glass elevator since the tower was truly high. Here, you can see us sitting on the rooftop of an underground mall..our background is of course, the Nagoya tower.

Ate Lorna' 25th Wedding Anniversary

Ate Lorna and Kuya David Siega celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last July 16, 2006. The ceremony was held inside their church, Iglesia ni Kristo, known to be a very exclusive church.

Many friends and relatives of the couple flocked inside the church to celebrate with the Siega family and to satisfy their curiosity about the set-up of the Iglesia church...honestly speaking...I was one them! hehe. I thoroughly observed all the details inside the church. In fairness, the interior of the church is artistically planned, intricately beautiful, the environment inside is very solemn and very heavenly.

Yeah...everything that you heard about the restrictions inside the church are all true. Helen Escovilla, who came in Spaghetti and jeans was not allowed to enter the church...she went home...huhuhu! The male and female are separately seated. Oooh I almost forgot, their choir are very many, almost a hundred of them. They are prominently seated at the front. Their voices are so captivating...as in very angelic that I almost cried when they sang the song HERE COMES THE BRIDE!

The ceremony was so simple and brief. It started at 4:30 in the afternoon and ended past 5:00 p.m.

The banquet was held at the Garden Oases but Megumi and I proceeded to the Mcdonalds place at Bajada to escape the lenghty ceremonies prior to the dinner that makes you hungry, all the more! Well Meg and I made a good decision coz we had a lot of fun at Mcdo and we were able to go home early!

This is the swing that was on display at Gaisano Mall since last year pa. The original price which I personally saw last month was P8,500. Medyo mahal man gud kaya hindi nabenta. Then, nagsale ang Gmall ng mga furnitures and kasali ang swing. 20% discount kaya P6 thousand plus na lang. I bought it yesterday and they delivered it kanina...I paid P250 na delivery fee..okay na rin yun kaysa ako pa ang maglukdo no? Meg loves it so much....

Seiji and I had so much fun strolling around the prayer mountain. It's so nice to commune with nature. The trees are so green, the landscape are too beautiful to describe. The air is so fresh and cool, in fact, there is no need for an airconditioner at the sanctuary.

All the houses above can be found at the prayer mountain of Quiboloy in Tamayong, Calinan. The place was very beautiful it's as if you are in the other parts of the world. The houses are very attractive, very clean and sophisticated. The place is around 1 hour and thirty minutes ride from downtown proper. The road is not quite good...it's a rocky road... quite rough but when you reach the area you will surely forget the outside world.

We had our Student's Induction Program last Friday. Only Grades IV up to High School were advised to join the program. The occupants of the new school building were not included. Ayako San o Shinobu Kai

Last June 16 was the birthday of the late Ayako Uchida San, we hosted a Shinobu Kai or a party in her memory. It was well attended by people who know Ayako San. PNJK staff, PNJK International School admin staff, MKD PDA dancers and faculty, Mrs. Masae Ishiyama, Mr. Teramoto, and of course the RSCC orphans from DSWD. Otosan gave out tokens to all who attended the affair.

All these pictures were taken during the baptism of Christian Jay Montecillo, Ate Baby's youngest son. As seen here, Tatay had so much fun talking & enjoying the cigarette given by Uchida Otosan. Otosan gave 1 big lechon from Porkitos! Yummmylichous! Ate already had one lechon kaya there were 2 lechon! Sosyal! It was a gathering of adults and kids as well. You know naman the Papaya clan, when there's a party, it will always be a grand gathering. See Yan-yan? He taught Donniel to eat fruits rather than eating lechon! Wow! What a good boy! Donniel here just finished his watermelon pero gisuka niya rin after kasi di pa niya gina-chew ang food niya! Ate invited some neighbors like Nong Jesus and Nang Milba. We went home with filled stomachs and happy memories!

Santacruzan is our May Festival to honor Queen Helena the mother of Constantine who found the cross to where Jesus was crucified. For this year, the Sagalas or the Queens toured around the subdivision while riding in a beautifully decorated float.
